Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) NHS Trust provides 24-hour emergency and healthcare services to a population of more than five million across Yorkshire and the Humber. It provides an accident and emergency (A&E) service to respond to 999 calls, an NHS 111 non-emergency service (covering Yorkshire, Northern Lincolnshire and Bassetlaw), patient transport services and Emergency Operation Centres where 999 calls are received, clinical advice is provided and emergency vehicles are dispatched from if needed. It operates from 62 ambulance stations across the county and 19 hospital-based Patient Reception Centres, with a fleet of over 500 emergency vehicles and over 460 Patient Transport Service vehicles.

  • the delivery of sustainable services that meet the standards expected by patients;
  • steering the board through its ongoing improvement journey;
  • providing coherent leadership to the Trust board as it responds to the CQC recommendations;
  • shaping the strategic direction of the organisation;
